Description :
  • Schedules, prioritizes and coordinates crew work assignments to ensure proper coverage; receives and acts upon work orders, service requests, complaints and concerns from other divisions, departments and the public
  • Reviews and evaluates the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures
  • Trains assigned employees in work methods, procedures and techniques; provides guidance and technical assistance to staff
  • Monitors employee performance; provides input to upper level management for the purposes of performance assessment of assigned staff
  • Oversees the use, care and operation of assigned equipment; ensures equipment and vehicles are maintained in proper working order
  • Prepares budgetary estimates of staff, equipment and materials required
  • Monitors inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies; solicits price quotes and makes requests for needed purchases
  • Coordinates, monitors, and inspects the work of contract staff; ensures work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, contracts, and City standards
  • Compiles data on crew activities and materials and supplies used; updates and maintains records; prepares activity and summary reports
  • Responds to emergency calls for maintenance and repair activities
  • Participates in the emergency standby/call out program by responding after normal working hours, as needed
  • Performs record keeping of maintenance, and heavy duty fleet vehicles
  • Identifies and reports hazardous material, and solicit direction for containment and control
  • Identifies and corrects hazardous conditions; or reports hazardous conditions for direction for appropriate action
  • Conducts pre and post trip inspections of vehicles to verify safety and proper operations or to identify potential problems; reports faulty equipment or operational problems
  • Prepares and writes a variety of reports and documentation, including detailed Risk Management incident reports
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature
Requirements :

High School Diploma or equivalent; supplemented by trade(s) related courses completed at a recognized college or trade school; or five (5) years of collective experience performing work related to area of assignment.
